Muse Nominated

September 13, 2008

As part of its mission promoting live entertainment, in 2002 Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional created the Luna del Auditorio Award. These awards, presented by Auditorio Nacional, acknowledge the best live performances that took place within Mexican territory during the year.

The Luna del Auditorio Award is a crystal replica of the sculpture La Luna by the Mexican plastic artist Juan Soriano, which since 1992 has adorned the main esplanade of this Center of Art and Culture and is also symbol and pride of Mexico City.

The Lunas del Auditorio Awards are today the most important acknowledgement in Mexico’s entertainment industry, and every year the ceremony is crowded with celebrities from all over Latin America and the telecast audience has reached big numbers.

Foreign artists have won this award, like Coldplay, Shakira, U2, Moby, Depeche Mode, Avril Lavigne, Lenny Kravitz, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel and Eric Clapton.

Muse has been nominated in the category for Best Electronic Act (?) for their shows in April 2007 with acts from the Acapulco Music Festival 2008, Daft Punk, Deep Dish, Dj Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Infected Mushroom, Justice, Los Amigos Invisibles, Metric, Nick Warren, Paul Van Dyk and Sasha & John Digweed.

For the moment, there’s no way to vote for the nominees as usual, but hopefully in a week might appear a link to do it.

The Vodafone Live Music Awards takes place on September 18 at Carling Brixton Academy and we’re giving you the chance to win tickets by telling us your choice for the Xfm Live Breakthrough Act award.

Vodafone Live Music Awards brings together the music industry and fans alike to celebrate the very best in the UK live music scene.

Will Mark Ronson or Dizzee Rascal be a match for legends Paul Weller and Morrissey in the Best Live Male category? Can Kate Nash steal the Best Live Female crown from last year’s winner Amy Winehouse? Will the Best Live Act gong go to Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, The Verve or Primal Scream?

Muse Warn Fans, Streets Track Dumped, Assassin Makes Guitar Hero World Tour!

September 6, 2008

Muse have warned fans not to expect a new album too soon, despite having previously revealed that they have plenty of songs written for it.

The band previously said they were heading to Italy to write new material. However, they have since said they are a long way off from actually beginning the recording process.

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme told BBC 6music, “There’s about six or seven songs that we’ve started work on, but they’re still very young.

“I don’t think there’s anything that we’re ready to record yet.

“We just wanted to get started this year, to get the ball rolling a little bit rather than wait for a year doing nothing then get in the studio, and go, ‘What do we do now?’.

“Sometimes you can suffer from having too much time off.”

The band’s last studio album, ‘Black Holes And Revelations’, was released in July 2006.

MUSE & STREETS TRACK DITCHED

Mike Skinner has decided to dump the track he recorded with Muse.

As previously reported, The Streets frontman recorded ‘Who Knows Who’ with Muse, an early version of which leaked onto the internet. Tom: Woops, sorry.

But now Skinner has said it probably won’t get a release.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “We did the track and it felt really genuine, but a bit of a laugh as well.

“Then the label started getting too excited by it, so I fucked it off. I didn’t really think it was that good, anyway.”
