Muse Play VMA’s – First Listen Of New Track ‘Uprising’

July 15, 2009

Muse and Taylor Swift have become the first artists confirmed to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The British band will make their first US television appearance at the annual event, debuting new single ‘Uprising’ from their highly-anticipated album The Resistance.

In a statement, frontman Matt Bellamy said: “We are honoured to be invited to play at the VMAs, which will be our first ever US performance of our debut single from our new album… and of course another great excuse to hang out in New York City for a few days!”

Country star Swift, who served as a red carpet interviewer last year, has promised that fans can expect “theatrics” during her performance of an updated version of new single ‘You Belong With Me’.

“I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done! MTV has been so good to me. And I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs,” she said.

Last year’s host Russell Brand will return to front the ceremony, which will air live from various locations in New York on September 13.

Muse Slap Bass

July 10, 2009

Muse have revealed that one of the tracks on their upcoming album The Resistance features some slap bass.

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme told the NME that ‘Unnatural Selection’ from the follow-up to 2006’s Black Holes And Revelations boasts the effect.

Wolstenhome said: “I know it’s probably not ever been cool to play slap bass but on that song it just seemed to work, so we kept it in.”

Regarding three-part album closer ‘Exogenesis’, frontman Matt Bellamy said: “I kind of had to get the other two to trust me a bit with that one. But I think it’s turned out amazing.”

The Resistance is released on September 14.
